Google Tips
"Quotation Marks"
Put quotes around search terms to get exact words or phrases.
Ex: "James Clear" gives all James Clear results without just "James" or "Clear"
-Dashes
If you want to exclude a term from your search, include a hyphen before that word.
Ex: dolphins-football returns dolphins the animal without the football team.
~ Tilde
Use tilde when you want synonyms to appear in the result.
Ex: music ~classes would return music classes, music lessons, music coaching, etc.
Site:
Use to search within a specific website only.
Ex: Promotion site:e-publishing.af.mil would return files that reference promotions only from e-pubs.
| Vertical Bar
Works the same as OR.
Ex: Netflix | Hulu would return Netflix or Hulu results
. . Two Periods
Use 2 periods to search within 2 number ranges.
Ex: movies 1980..2000 returns movies from 1980 and 2000
Location:
Find news related to a particular location.
Ex: Elon Musk location:San Francisco returns news stories with Elon Musk from San Fransisco
FileType:
Filter by a certain file type for your search.
Ex: warren buffet filetype:pdf

Effective Email Writing
Subject Lines – can provide the bottom line in the subject line?
Example: INFO//1LSC 10-11 Sep, Signup in ARCNet
Email Body:
Bottom Line (BL) Method – get to the point, then tell them details after
BL: Next 1LSC will be 10-11 Sep. Eligibility is SrA (with ALS completed) to TSgt. Signup via ARCNet.
The next First Line Supervisors Course (1LSC) will be held in the Wing Conference Room from 10-11 Sep. Members must obtain approval from their supervisor then signup via ARCnet.
Curriculum includes open dialogue between students and several topics to increase supervisor knowledge. Activities include bullet writing, a force management scenario, a mock promotion board, etc.
